On the 17th of December 2007 the Greek Masters and Mates Union with the collaboration of the University of Nottigham (Institute of Work, Health and Organisation and the Cyprus Shipping Council organised the second focus of the SEA project. The debate was about democracy, active citizenship, specificities, problems and perspectives of the marine profession. Attendants were representatives of Cyprus Master mariners’ association, masters and shipping companies.
The first focus group, which was implemented in the framework of the SEA project, was held today in Piraeus. More than 30 participants, amongst them the president of the Panhellenic Seamens Federation and representatives of Maritime Unions, shared views on the topics of active european citizenship, intercultural dialogue, employment opportunities and threats and equality of sexes. The resutls of this focus group will be analysed and included in a booklet, which will be published at the end of the project.
