Dear Sirs,

The maritime disaster of “PRESTIGE” has once again resulted in the Master of the vessel being the victim of a game of creating impressions, not to mention financial interests.

Although the reasons of such an accident are still under investigation, the Greek Master of a major traditional maritime country is held in custody in a high security prison simply because there is a disagreement over the amount of bank guarantee.

As a Greek Master, as a citizen of the European Union, I can only say: SHAME !

We demand the immediate release of our colleague rendering him every assistance, moral and legal.

On behalf of Masters & Mates Union
Of Greek Merchant Marine

THE PRESIDENT

EVANGELOS KOUZILOS
